MY JOURNEY
I’ve been studying and practicing design for the past 5 years in various forms! After studying Integrated Art, Technology, and Business at USC’s Iovine and Young Academy with a minor in Data Science, I joined the 5th cohort of UC Berkeley’s Master of Design program, where I am studying Product Design.
WHat AM I UP TO?
writing…
I’m currently working on my thesis, “Technology as a Canvas for Later-Life Expression”, exploring how digital tools can nurture creativity, independence, and social connection for the elderly. Through participatory research and co-design, my project will examine tech, not as mere assistance, but as an accessible medium for self-expression and well-being.
READING…
I’m finishing up “Everything I Need I Get From You”, a book by Kaitlyn Tiffany- that’s essentially a cultural study of One Direction fandom, showing how teenage girls used online spaces to build community, shape internet culture, and assert their own power in digital spaces. It’s been causing me to reflect on my own fandom and how it impacts the way I show up in the world!
WAtching…
I’m also watching Cyberpunk (based on the game!), which is, simply put, a cool, animated, dystopian show with cyborgs. It does also explore some interesting themes, mostly about how technical ambition can come with the cost of losing one’s humanity… very apt! The art is also breath-taking, which is part of why I enjoy it so much!
